How to know if your app needs a UX/UI redesign

Ierònne ·

"The app works, why touch it?" is the question that almost always comes right before a problem that's already been sitting there for months, just never measured.

There are concrete signs worth checking before a redesign becomes urgent:

Users who drop off at the same point every time

If you have usage analytics (and if you don't, that's the first sign), check which step of the flow people leave at. A repeated drop-off point almost always points to real friction the design isn't solving.

Support gets the same question over and over

When several people write in asking the same thing about how to use a feature, it's usually not a "people don't read" problem. It's a sign that part of the interface doesn't explain itself, which is exactly what good design is supposed to do.

Every update feels like a patch on top of another patch

If every new feature looks glued on top of the previous ones, with no coherent visual logic holding the app together, that's a sign too, even without a direct complaint from users.

None of these signs demand a full redesign right away. But if you recognize more than one, it's worth measuring before the problem grows on its own.
